‘Fiver Fest’ Returns to Ruddington

Once again traders in Ruddington are joining in with ‘The Totally Locally Fiver Fest’. It’s a national celebration of small businesses and shops which runs for a fortnight from today (Saturday October 10th) until October 24th.

Alex Preston

Being part of this UK-wide initiative was suggested to fellow traders in February this year by The Bottle Top‘s Alex Preston, who is also part of the award-winning Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP) team.  As numerous independent retailers in the village got involved first time, she decided to also co-ordinate a second one for Ruddington – and again lots of our village traders have got onboard.

Alex explains: “Ruddington businesses taking part have special £5 offers over a two week period to show the quality, value and diversity of what they sell, as well as to say a huge thank you to the Ruddington community that supports them. The Totally Locally £5 message is that people spending £5 per week in their local community has a massive impact on their high street and local economy.”

This time participants include Aveda at Eleven, The Black Cat Café, BritMask, The Frame Breakers pub, Jasper’s Café, The Next EpisodeThe Old Bakehouse Tearoom, Perkins Hardware, Philo’s Espresso Bar & Eatery, Phoenix Flowers, Ruby Rae Clothing, Ruddington Arms, Ruddington Fish Bar, The Split Screen Coffee Company, The White Horse Inn and, of course, The Bottle Top at 2, High Street. All will be displaying a special window poster (see below) to show they’re taking part by offering something fabulous for a fiver.

Offers at The Bottle Top include selection of beer at 2 for £5, stout cake and Split Screen Coffee made with Bottle Top beer, 4x ocean saver eco friendly cleaning pods and local honey & Ruddy Fine hand sanitiser.

Next door at Philo’s they’re offering 3 bath tea bags for £5 in their Gift Shop; also any baguette & any cake to take away for £5 from the café.

At The Old Bakehouse Tearoom on Church Street for £5 you can get a Full English Breakfast and Medium Coffee or Tea.

Mark Pinks

Mark Pinks of RVCP says: “We are excited to sponsor and drive this campaign, aligning precisely with the core values of the group’s aims – encouraging our community to rediscover what’s on offer in our village centre, and the amazing independent shops, cafés and pubs that we have. Research by Totally Locally has shown that if every adult in Ruddington spent just £5 a week at our local independent shops and businesses instead of online or at the supermarket, £1.4m could go into our local economy every year – meaning more jobs, a better high street, and an even more enjoyable place to be!”

Why not make a trip to ‘The Totally Locally Fiver Fest’ part of a Nottingham City Transport #RuddyGoodDayOut aboard a Navy 3 or Green 10 bus?

The latest guidance on using public transport safely can be found >>HERE<<. Please remember face coverings must also now be worn when entering all business premises.
